FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions about us. We have the answers you’ve been looking for.

At Dental Specialty Associates, we receive many questions from patients new to our office and practice areas. Below are a few of the most frequently asked dental questions we regularly hear.

What is a Periodontist?

Periodontists are dentists, but are highly specialized. Typically, they try to prevent and treat periodontal (gum) disease. They also many specialize in the area of dental implant placements.

What is a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are dentists who restore and replace patients’ teeth. To become a prosthodontist, dentists must train for several years after graduating from dental school.

What is an Endodontist?

Endodontists are dentists that use endodontic treatments to help patients try to keep the teeth they have – even if those teeth have been damaged – through means such as root canals. Endodontists specialize in procedures that involve the pulp (interior) of the teeth.

What is an Oral Surgeon?

Oral surgeons perform oral-maxillofacial surgeries, as well as non-surgical treatment procedures. Many oral surgeons focus on correcting genetic malformations and facial trauma.

What is an Orthodontist?

Orthodontists prevent and treat irregularities of the mouth and face. When you think of getting braces, you typically go to an orthodontist for solutions.

Why do you have so many specialists on staff?

We believe that it makes sense for patients to be able to come to one location to get all the dental care they need. Over their lifetimes, they never have to go anywhere else. Plus, their health records and x-rays are kept in one centralized area.

Will my dental procedure hurt?

We always recommend the most advanced technical procedures so patients experience as little discomfort as possible during their treatments. We also offer different types of anesthetics to cater to every individual’s needs.

What will my treatment cost?

The out-of-pocket amount you pay for your treatment will vary depending upon your insurance and the procedures necessary. Our professional, caring team members will be happy to explain your payment options during your visit.
